My name is Victor, Here is a 1994 GMC Suburban 4X4 with a Mercedes-Benz 300SD EnGine,
This is Diesel...In case you Didn't Know.....
The Transmission is a 700R4 from a 1992 Suburban 4X4.
It took about 2 weeks to get the adapter Plate made, used the MB
Flywheel and adapted the GM Torque converter to fit.
the engine dropped right in with lots of space to work around.
i got most everything to work on the dashboard even though the GM is
computerize...i got the temp, alt, speedo, oil pressure and gas gauge all

to work except Tack RPM....STARTED Sunday 8 0f Nov. 2009 . it took me 9 days

from 11am to about 6/7pm in a Storage unit! No electricity only lights

hooked from a battery. Thank God for the Good weather! Finished Tuesday 17 Nov. 2009
This was done by Myself! All Alone! the only help i got was to take the
hood off And put it back. If anyone says he or she even handed me a
tool...They are lying!!!
The truck took off like a shot...i think it pulls better than in the
car...maybe because of the larger torque converter. OH yes and the 4X4 works!

If you have Questions... Email me at ... torontocity@yahoo.com .

When i made this video...There was and still lots to do...the winter came and its to cold out, but as of today..17 feb 2010 the truck is running...i drive it everyday..but looking forward to some warmer weather....Oh !~ and i Painted the truck White! SEE PICS HERE... http://www.flickr.com/photos/torontocity/

a lot of you asked who did the adaptor plates....see

Two things to do to get max power from the MB Motor...
Don't depend on the IP to suck fuel from the tank...it will never get proper flow...Install a Pickup Pump!

Also don't forget to Advance the IP about a 25 cent width...or little more if necessary .....

One more thing..DON"T RUN UVO! it will ruin the injectors.
run 50/50 Diesel and U. Transmission Fluid.

  • You should read the description before you comment :/

  • it isnt running right lol atleast one cylinder is missing

  • @dfettoguy2009 Some work was done to the Engine...i think they changed the timing Chain, it seems that the timing is off...that affects the pump too...........

  • Weird, man! I've heard of GMC Suburbans having diesel engine under the hood (I think they should be required, anyway), but I can't imagine a Mercedes-Benz diesel engine under the hood, let alone one with only 3-litres displacement. Is there enough power to move the huge rig?

  • @Seattlecarnut Well.. Its nothing like the 8Cyl motor, but it takes off and runs Just like the Car the motor came out of,BUT!!! since i have a auto Transmission in it AND i could not get the kickdown cable to work...i Drive it like a SEMI AUTO....first 1, then 2, then 3 and on the hiway 4 which is the overdrive.

this is mainly a city truck...No power to go mountain climbing,OH! and by the way....it is now powered by Kentucky Fried Chicken!!!..... Used Vegetable Oil !!!

  • pinoybelle are u understand tagalog language??

  • Waste of a OM619!

  • Just for laughs: The Mercedes 5 cylinder is rated at 125hp, give or take. GM's own turbodiesel was rated at 150hp. Given the GM was over twice the displacement, there was more torque, no doubt, but there's less reciprocating mass, and less friction in the 5 cylinder, so that's probably why it pulls so nice. Also worth considering: 1979 300SD weighed near 6,000 lbs, not too different from the 'burban. Also sounds like this one could use a set of injectors. Also check eBay for a tach amplifier.

  • jesus YYYYYYYYYYYYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyYYYYYYYYYYYYY u killed it wit that german shit lol. now put the 454 in the benz

  • Well...you can read quite clearly who understands and who does not. While the OM617 is small compared to any v8 diesel from the US,if all you're doing is driving that 'disgrace',or 'pos' or whatever will outlast ANYTHING those retards in Detroit could engineer.

  • hmm.. wouldnt of been my choice of motors but what ever works,

  • @ssj02 454s are only good for 2 things, sucking gas and being used as weights.

  • neat swap man, what kind of milage do you get out of it? i bet she probably tops out at about 90kph tho lol.

  • Dude, I really admire you talent but I think you committed a crime by torturing this Suburban on the electric chair for the rest of its life!!! Just imagining that this could have the 454 under the hood while listening to the weak ass 3.0 diesel makes me cry.........

  • Now, all you need is another engine that size in order to move the truck. Hmmmm
