My mini lop, Filip (zobel siamese brown, almost three years old), showing some tricks he's learned through clicker training.

The reward I give him is sunflower seeds and normal rabbit treats that you can buy in any pet store. Sunflower seeds are very fatty, though, so be careful with the amount you give!

The video is shot in Sweden, which explains the weird language. All I'm saying, though, is pretty much "spin", "stand" and "good" etc.

At the end of the video I'm trying to teach him to lie down. I'm using the moment where he's usually lieing down anyways, clicking at the very moment he lies down. This makes him realize what what he's doing is the desired behaviour and eventually he'll try to do it deliberately to try to get a treat. After a while you add the command "Lie down". In this video he didn't associate the word to the behaviour yet, so here I'm just adding the word to make him realize that what he's doing is actually called "Lie down", or "Ligg", which is the Swedish word I'm using. Eventually he'll pick it up and do it when I tell him to. ...I hope. ;)

  • Please Answer me, I don't know what to get to do Clicker Training , and where to get it. Also, You know how a rabbit dances , (Side kick jump) can i make it into a trick . AND AND , How do i get my rabbit to shake my hand doing clicker trainning.

    Your an ammazing Trainer

  • The tricks you want to teach him will require too much explanation to be posted in a comment. But what 's more important is to truely understand how clicker training works before you even start to try it on your rabbit. That's why I won't explain anything to you in the comments here, but suggest you to go and read as much about clicker training as you can instead before you start. ;) Good luck!

  • @Tinwelende i love rabbits and i need some advice. i bought a mini-rex bunny at a pet store about a month ago. the rabbit was abandoned by its owner and will barely let anyone pick him up.when i pet him its fine but when i actually get him in my hands he struggles to get away.sorry that im going off subject i just thought you'd be one of the best people to ask since you can clicker train your bunny.so can you tell me how i can pick him up safely and easy.PLEASE ANSWER!!

  • It will take a long time for the rabbit to fully trust you, especially if you're not firm and certain in your way of handling it, e.g. if you're not very used to carrying rabbits. If you go to rabbits.rabbitspeak. com, you will find many great tips on how to communicate with your rabbit and how to read it's signals right. That will take you far in gaining trust from your rabbit. It's hard to explain how, but just search YouTube for "How to pick up a rabbit" and you'll find lots!

  • @Tinwelende i have looked up tons of things like that before just the problem is he always runs away when i try so i cant get him

  • Then he just doesn't trust you enough. Some rabbits never become completely tame for some reason. It's very individual. It's the easiest to tame them when they're as young as possible. The older they become, the harder it gets. Taming them and gaining their trust takes time and requires you to spend all the time you can with the rabbit.Take it to a breeder or pet store where they are used to handling rabbits, so they can show you the best way to pick it up and hold it without it kicking.

  • What's that song ? :)

" I just got a bunny, and this will help me a lot" Thanks Hun

  • SO smart

  • Thanks for your comment and sorry I haven't answered until now. You can get a clicker at pretty much any pet store. Getting him to side kick jump will probably be very hard, since they only do it when they're really happy or excited. You should really try to teach him easier things first before you take on the side kick jump (if ever). Shaking hands is also a hard one, but read up on clicker training as much as possible before you start and you'll figure out the rest while you read.

  • Of course they can. ;) As long as they like treats and they like and trust YOU, you can train them. ;) It's just important to do it the right way in order to be successful. It's easy to train them the wrong way when using the clicker training method, since it's quite tricky to get it right if you don't know what you're doing. Just read as much as you can about clicker training before you start and watch instructional videos here on YouTube. ;) Good luck!
