@spelunkerd Most pros don't use a corner trowel as you then are switching from this trowel to a regular 6 inch broadknife when the mud exgtends beyond the end of a corner trowel.....plus some corners end up not being true 90 degree corners then your corner tape doesn't fit in there nice & tight. The tape needs to follow the contour of your inside edge. When you do alot of corners, you just get better with using the broadknives, you'll see. Thanks for commenting. Joe :0

@spelunkerd I used quickset mud since this was a patch & I wanted to apply the other coats of mud the same day, so I could finish the patch in one day. If you use regular all purpose joint compound, you would have to wait for it to dry between coats as the mud shrinks when drying......quickset doesn't shrink. Joe :0

I'm guessing you used dryer mud because you want it to dry faster. Would you have used a more watery mud, drawing the paper through it before application, if you had more time to do it? I notice you don't use a corner trowel -- it seems like many professionals don't bother because it doesn't save them much time. Thanks for posting this effort - it's the small, time saving tips that are most useful.

@spelunkerd If you are doing alot of corners & not just a patch, you might want to use all purpose joint compound but remember to let the mud dry all the way before applying the next coat, as the mud will shrink on each coat, if you are not using a quickset compound. I have other videos that talk more about quickset tape & the benefits, etc.. Look for them. Joe :0
