i'm thinking the loss of distal finger segments may be from frostbite. (this was their ice age). so many ideas come to mind from the work our ancestors left behind.

this is one of the better videos of herzog ...i like that he's just having a casual conversation not in a formal setting or interview setting. just off the cuff herzog. i can't believe they were asking them to leave! lol let him stay up all night and talk if he wants!

@gentlemarj Unfortunately our trash and pollution will outlive us all and maybe outlive the human race. we no longer live in a sustainable way with nature and the next seven generations will pay for it. that's interesting about the multiple occurrence of the disfigured hand in cave art...i wonder if it was caused by an ailment like arthritis or an injury in fighting or hunting? maybe a family of artists with short pinkies? this is why i love archaeology ....history is like a puzzle

An outline of the human hand with shortened fingers was found in another cave where the hand was outlined by charcoal being sprayed (by mouth) all around. The pictorial I'm talking about may tell of a common ice age casualty. Can't "prove" but I deduce. What do you think it was? Werner also refers to the beginnings of our shadow theater, shadow images by firelight. We have a long history of storytelling. It's built into our genetics. What of our stories today will survive 30,000 yrs?
