James Kalm battles the drizzle and traffic of drive time Manhattan to bring viewers a tour of this delectable yet conceptually challenging two person show. As a long time fan of Alfred Jensen, there was little doubt that with or without his video camera, James Kalm would have visited this show. However, once he'd smoozed his way into recording this opening, he was pleased with the appropriate and satisfying pairing of these two bodies of work. Using mathematical systems and other guiding factors to logically develop their ideas and compositions, there is nonetheless a bold contrast between the "cool" Minimal grids and cubes of LeWitt and the sensual ritualistic patterns achieved by Jensen. These works are at once visual treats, as well as brainteasers evoking the viewers skills in the un-coding of pattern and system.

  • Beautiful show.

Interesting anti out of the tube comment. Caught your recent post about a dioxazine fetish. It is amazing but can mix incredibly. Loving Iron ox especially. Yeah Jensen clearly kicks it using it from the tube like that. Always felt too easy using it out of the tube for me, to simple to look at. Always trying to master what is most complex. Almighty Jensen paintings though.

    thank you James

  • The Lewitt Structures are straight from the Grand Architect . Alfred Jensen paintings Could be spells , Keys , some type of magic . they have one foot going in thru the out door. Fantastic.

    Thanks James

  • James, quite like your mini malism painting at Sideshow Gallery.

Thank you for work in the fields.

  • @andrewweis Sometimes the straight pigment is unstable. Considering that some of these pieces were painted in the late fifties and early sixties, Some of the pigments have been discontinued due to their fugitive or crackly tendencies.

  • That is an amazing, amazing exhibition. If you really look at sol lewitt, i mean really look - it becomes absolutely sublime. Those who have never gone through this kind of discipline in doing anything repetitive through process will never understand. Sol LeWitt is fantastic and that hanging piece is so great!

  • @andrewweis look at the edges of a can of used paint and you will see the answer!

  • James nice video its a work of art in itself . Did YOU LET YOUR CAMERA WARM UP?or what different cam?. seriously yore vids get better and better with few exceptions! Frank Stella insert was cool ! keep up the good work.
