This is the correct way in my opinion for someone to practice sweep picking.Iam using a C major 5 string arpeggio throughout this video to showcase the steps needed in order for someone to master this.Just learn the mechanics correct and then start practicing at a comfortable speed trying to relax your fingers with each sweep and not trying to go faster and faster. If you like it then ill make another one about the rolling finger technique soon. And in general if these kinds of technique oriented videos are your thing drop me a note or comment and let me know.i ll make more.

  • Very good lesson, sometimes when I sweep, the strings ring too much so this will help me.

  • @2MARINES2 thx man.it ll definately help.Another thing that ll help you if you have serious trouble with noise is to rest your thumb against the strings instead of your palm when you are sweeping. It might feel awkward at first but its far more effective.

  • My friend, 1) Your lesson was amazing, I will try to use a lighter touch on everything I do now, and 2) Even more amazing since it was recorded in a language that is obviously your second language. There were mistakes in your English, and yet, you were able to communicate the idea far clearer than any native speaker I've known. This is proof that you don't need to speak a language perfectly to communicate perfectly. Thank you again.

  • @aquaphone Thx for you kind words.I thought about writing down what i wanted to say(since iam Greek) but i was too bored just thinking about it so i went for it..hence the mistakes lol.Its a good practice to use light touch in everything you do on the instrument.Practising with light touch produce finger independence much faster and when you combine it with economy of motion you have the winning formula.

  • @Dreamdancer11 Yeah man, a light touch. I actually hear you saying that inside my head every time I try to play something and tense up! LOL! I think "have to relax and play gently." So your video helped me for more than sweep picking!

  • @aquaphone Hehe..thats cool man it ll definately help a lot.For more info on the...light finger, search this online article:Jamie Andreas "Finding the Incredible Lightness".If you hardwire these stuff to your brain each time you practice(anything),you ll see improvement in half the time.

  • @Dreamdancer11 Thanks, yeah, I have read some of her articles. I think she exaggerates at times but she gets the point across. She did make me re-think how I play. I liked your explanation better though; it's much simpler.

  • :')

  • @stanguitar Glad to hear that mate.If you keep at it soon it ll become effortless.

  • I didn't expect much of this video at first, but it actually helped ! Easing pressure after playing a note is really a good advice, I never thought about doing that.. ! It immediately made my sweeping technique better, thank you :)
