Aria
Tutte nel cor vi sento,
furie del crudo averno,
lunge a sì gran tormento
amor, mercé, pietà.
Chi mi rubò quel core,
quel che tradito ha il mio,
provi dal mio furore,
vendetta e crudeltà.
Chrous:
Pietà! numi, pietà!
Aiuto oh giusti numi!
A noi volgete i lumi...
Pietà! numi, pietà!
Il ciel, il mare, il vento
ci opprimon di spavento...
Pietà! numi, pietà!
In braccio a cruda morte
ci spinge l'empia sorte...

@amongthegarbage
I meant that the storm was pathetically illustrative compared to Mozart's amazing music, serving to belittle rather than enhance. Idomeneo is one of the greatest operas I know and it maddens me to see opportunities wasted. Please excuse my resorting to sarcasm when referring to the furies but, still...

I'd guess these aren't supposed to be werewolves, but an interpretation of the furies that she's singing about ("furie del crudo averno") - in greek mythology there are three furies with sometimes appear in the shape of a dog. So my interpretation is that Electra during her furious aria becomes the third fury.
Whats strange about a storm in a scene that depicts a storm??
I don't like this stage direction either, but I also dislike severe judgements on a topic in which you are rather ignorant.:)

What is it with the werewolves then? And the storm? Talk about trying to beat Mozart at his own game and losing! The singing is passable but the rest is execrable.

don't think that's delunsh at her best. her voice (at least on recording) doen'r really cut through - and frankly she usually is a much better actress than in this production.

Mireille Delunsch als "Furie und Racheengel"! Was für eine Stimme!!! Ihre Performance ist einfach überirdisch gut. Sensationell!!!!!
Mindestens 10 Sterne, wenn´s möglich wäre!

I love the gritty urban futuristic look of this production. Musically, it's sensational too.
