Trailer for a documentary about a Chicano civil rights leader who demanded the return of land in the Southwest and a series of violent events in northern New Mexico during the 1960s.
Los Mejicanos deverian centirse orgulloso de este lider pero lamentablemente muy pocos saben de este gran lider mi gran respeto por este lider que nadie sabe o muy pocos han leido de este gran lider
Both of my parents are from Northern New Mexico. I was born there as well. They both were from families of position and privilge. My fathers family had recieved land from the governor that extended from Abiquiiu, where Georgia O'keefe lived, to just north of Albuquerque. That was roughly 200 square miles! It is mostly National Forest now, and some small towns. Gallina, Youngsville, Canones, Cuba, Coyote. But, it was stolen from the natives, then stolen from us. Past history. Get over it.
My Mother's family is from the neighboring village of La Puente, NM. I remember the court house raid well. I was a little boy at the time and we were in La Puente during the few days that the Alianzas stood up.
Reies Lopez Tijerina is less than an honorable person trying to represent very honorable people.
The truth of the matter is that the United States violated terms of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
We didn't cross the border, the border crossed us!
Your a fucking ignoramus. Worse- you don't know your history. Further-- To whom are you referring when you say "ours now". "Our" as in American citizens? Or ours meaning white trash, inbred, illiterate, retards. Just checking.
Did they ever get there land back?

"Property of every kind
Shall be inviolably respected..
And all Mexicans shall enjoy guarantees..
As if they were citizens of the United States."
