  • Hi all

It has come to my attention that an International Master has posted a couple of very relevant videos for this Trap - with a demonstration of very interesting resources available to both sides.

The channel to check out is:

    "MrHobbit1"

check out the Siberian Trap couple of videos.

I am amazed because in one of the ideas, it's as if White does a counter gambit based on the Q-c7 to really get quality pieces.

  • @kingscrusher On further inspection, far too much optimism for White seems to be placed on this variation : [Event "?"] [Site "?"] [Date "????.??.??"] [Round "?"] [White "?"] [Black "?"] [Result "*"] [PlyCount "33"] 1. e4 c5 2. d4 cxd4 3. c3 dxc3 4. Nxc3 Nc6 5. Nf3 e6 6. Bc4 Qc7 7. O-O Nf6 8. Nb5 Qb8 9. e5 Ng4 (9... Nxe5 10. Nxe5 Qxe5 11. Re1 Qc5 12. Bf1 a6 13. Be3 Qc6) 10. Bf4 a6 11. Nd6+ Bxd6 12. exd6 b5 The one game at chessgames - com in this line - Black wins. Black seems okay here.
  • GM Jesse Kraai has analysed this trap in a video. He suggests playing Nd5 to counter black's Ng4, which leads to lots of problems for black. If you search here on you tube for Kraai Morra, you will find his video. Congrats on the million and thanks for all the great videos!

  • @icantstandthequiet Yes very good analysis there - thank you. I may do a follow up video highlighting the key points made.

  • In the final position what about 1 Nb5 Qb8 2 h3 ?

  • @gamegenius4 Yes Stockfish also recommended this as an alternative to g3.

  • white woudlnt castle after Qc7. i mean the black queen is already there to attack

  • @gamegenius4 After h3, black can play h5 and get an h file attack. I've posted a video on the Siberian Trap tday, showing you this variation.

  • @kingscrusher I replied to the comments you left me on the video I uploaded. I'm sorry to have taken so long to get back to you but I just don't check my youtube very often. You'll have to view the comments on the page that uploaded the video to. I left three comments since they were rather large. They are a bit out of order on the page because there were two many characters so I had to post three times. The two comments at the top of the page should be read after my first reply further down.

  • Bring on at least another million please! ;)

  • nice.

    Thanks

  • you are a really good commentator. you not only explain what is going on in an approachable, yet detailed, manner but you also infuse your analyze with a lively passion that is quite enjoyable.

  • Very instructive KC, thank you!!
