I hate driving in traffic.
It just sucks big time. I make use of my drive time by listening to books on tapes and especially of personal development materials. I heard a speaker say you can turn your driving time your "University On Wheels" and that's been true for me. Many of us spend hours a day on the road, especially here in LA.
If you've been on the 110 fwy during rush hour especially when there is a sports event by the Staples Center, you know it can feel like you're in a parking lot.
The other day I was in westside of Los Angeles, after training my last client of the day I was finally headed home. It was a productive but a long day and I felt so tired.
Do you ever wish you can snap your fingers and in an instant, you're at your destination? Well, it was one of those days.
I still had about an hour of driving. Traffic was terrible and I needed a pick me up energy boost.
It takes energy to create energy and what a better way through some muscle toning. So that's what I did.
I did some isometric exercises with the steering wheel -pushing outward with the back of my hands on the steering wheel. Pushing in on the wheel and even bicep curl contractions on the bottom part of the wheel.
I did heel raises on the floor of the car. Shoulder shrugs to release some tension in the neck. Adduction for the inner thighs.
Next time you're stuck in traffic or absolutely have not time to hit a exercise routine elsewhere, why not do it while driving. Keep you eye on the road and drive safely.
Till next time... Mens Sana In Corpore Sano - A strong mind in a strong body.
