"At last we've got a Senator that can really sing and dannnnnce!"
Also the line about Reagan. Man, I would love to know what Tom thought of his election to the presidency.

This sounds better than the other video of this song.

These were songs Tom wrote for the short-lived NBC-TV serIes, "THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS" (1964-'65), which featured David Frost [host and originator of the original BBC version], Alan Alda, Buck Henry, Henry Morgan, and singer Nancy Ames. It was very satiric in its songs and sketches concerning topical issues (and finally done in by CBS' "PETTICOAT JUNCTION" in the ratings). Lehrer recorded this album in July 1965; it's his last known recorded performance in the U.S.

The 'warmth' is caused by microscopic scratches in the surface. The same effect can be made by putting a white noise source into your mixer, just turn it's volume down low, or use no amp on it

Bo Burnham is similar as well but on a more societal perspective way than anything too specific.

despite everything going digital nowadays i think there will come a day when people will tire of its fakeness and unnaturalness and return to the warmth and genuineness of analogue equipment

Happy Birthday!
It is old, but as time goes on it just show how ahead of the times he was. National Brother Week? Are we getting along any better now than we were then? And his line about everyone hates the Jews was super funny, because Lehrer is Jewish, so he oughta know, yes?
