One of the major bushfires that are ripping through victoria on Saturday 7th Feb 2009. Video taken from Wandong in my backyard. Please excuse the unsteady camera hands and it was very windy. More Videos to come on the fire, please come back soon for more.
that is correct, sorry, i quickly turned around and looked at the tv, and read the number i had seen ( 300 i believe it was, but i have now reviewed that it said "police fear the toll may roll over 300 people that have perished" ) I guess that will teach me to pay more careful attention to what i am reading, sorry, it been a stressful week. But 181 is the correct figure, thanks for the correction.

let's stick to the facts here - the death toll is currently still 181 confirmed dead. Im sure that it will rise, but let's report accurately...

I'm glad. Some people don't know much about recent history - or just choose to ignore it.

Everybody deserves at leased a little respect. And stumpyjammer if you wish to criticize, put down and insult people do it elsewhere, not here on my channel, especially when people a showing a genuine concern to us and our country.

We need all the help we can get in times like these, it doesn't matter who it is or where their from, because when their in need, we (as Australians) are gonna be the first that they are going to ask for support. And if i had the chance i would be one of those people that are going to return the favor and help them, And i didn't see the need to say what you did, and im sorry to have to say but it was uncalled for, toghax09 was showing a concern to us, and didnt deserve that, Sorry toghax09.

the constant smell of burnt grass and rubber, and tyre marks (from wheel spin) coming out of burnt down houses as people have probably returned to find their house has burnt down. Thats just a small description of the devastation here. I hope i painted the picture for you, thats what it feels like, and i wouldnt want to feel it again. Thanks for your concern mate. Take care.

And just so you can understand a little about what it feels like, you feel very insecure, you dont feel safe to be in your own home, your scared to sleep as you may not wake up if the fire turns around, you drive around your town and all you see is black, deceased wildlife laying on the side of the road, burnt out cars, burnt and melted road signs,

Hello, thanks for your concern, the death toll has rolled over the 300 people mark today, and is feared to be a lot more. 400,000 hectares of land have been burnt (so far), More that 1,000 homes have been burnt down, leaving about 6,000 people now homeless with no where to stay. After 5 days these bushfires still burn out of control.

That's absolutely horrible, and I hope that no more lives are lost from these fires. :\ I've never gone through brushfires myself, considering I live in a pretty wet part of America, but I remember the fires in California last year and how everyone where I lived just watched in horror. It really isn't covered that much here, from what I've seen, which is a huge shame.
Hoping you can pull through this, be safe.

Thanks so much for you concern, your the first international viewer that ACTUALLY seemed to care, Its been a very hard and long 3 days for thousands of Victorians over the weekend, some people ( including myself ) are scared to sleep for the fact that we may wake up to the sound of fire tearing through our houses, or worst of all, not hearing it at all. Yes its very hard, but we all are sticking together and supporting each other, and were slowly pulling through. Thanks again for your concern.

yer i live in Wandong. pretty scary shit. the fire was so hot and the sound was deafening. Our whole street is so lucky because the wind made the fire stop and turn about 5 metres from houses.

I'm up in Warburton - We had to evacuate last night at 11:59PM After having the Kilmore Smoke, and the Brittania Creek fires rip through our forest..

They are also using Aussumption College in Kilmore as an air field. A truck of A-1 Jet fuel pulled in there, followed by a "sky crane" (helicopter crane) in the back of enclosed truck. There have been helicopters taking off and landing there all day, i would say it is a refueling point.

I do know wallan, i live in kilmore. And you guys were lucky, we all were. Fortunately the wind saved us all, as well as the many Volunteer Firefighters hard work to save peoples houses, they all deserve medals. I think so anyway.
andyj986 3 years ago
You know Wallan? We were saved by the wind. It's scary to think that if the wind didn't change most of us would be dead. Although that wind change did send the fires across the freeway and everywere else.

Feb 7 sucked.
I can see kinglake from here. I'm waiting for the sun to come up, because I don't think it's there anymore. I think it's gone. The whole township.
The whole mountain, for about 30 or 40 km looks like a glowing pile of ash in the dark. The smell is making me sick to the core.
I also heard that Marysborough simply isn't there anymore.
There is going to be terrible news today.
