Don't miss my other anthems! So far, the parodies for the UK (twice), Canada, Germany, Norway, France, the US, Russia, Italy, Sweden, China, Japan, Israel, North Korea, Australia and many more have been released.

"Amhrán na bhFiann" ("The Soldiers' Song" in English) is the national anthem of Ireland. The music was composed by Peadar Kearney and Patrick Heeney, and the original English lyrics were authored (as "A Soldiers' Song") by Kearney. It is sung in the Irish language translation made by Liam Ó Rinn. The song has three verses, but the national anthem consists of the chorus only.

I mean no offence to the countries parodied. In fact, most of these countries are my favorites, and I wish them all my best. Ireland is among the top 10 of non-NATO nations I like.

I am very aware that Bono and Gabriel Byrne are really Irish and not "only" Irish-Americans, but since they both reside regularly in the U.S. it was apt to include them.

-----

I do not promise anything, but if you want me to make a parody of YOUR national anthem, your country could be next, given that it is a nation of some international or historical significance. Requests should be made as comments to my videos; i check my PM inbox less often!

  • This was hilarious until I saw Bill Maher on the annoying list really? The guy is epic!

  • @rosamadchen Epic fail, you mean? I agree with Maher on a lot of issues, but the bottom line is that he is a left-liberal and not what I consider to be a 'real' libertarian, like Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Penn Jillette and Teller. Since he is moderately funny and right most of the time, but once in a while makes anti-business or anti-freedom statements, i find him annoying. But he is without doubt the least annoying of those shown in the "annoying montage". But then again, who wouldn't be?

  • 1 minor criticism I would have is that the republic of ireland is not so rich nowadays as they had to be bailed out by the EU and still are in debt.

  • @kanenkitten Well, I don't really see them starving in the streets. The economic downturn these days are hard on many, Ireland more than most, but they will without doubt recover within the next few years.

  • 1:43 March 17 is also the anniversary of the Union of my home country ( Italy ). Btw I've been to Ireland, and I'm speechless, it was AWESOME! And don't worry about all the drunken irish stereotypes, there are signs on trash bins saying not to drink in public! xD

  • The Irish (and part Irish) are spread pretty much everywhere in the states. I'm a part Irish mutt myself as are many tens of millions of others.

  • I think it was pretty good, except for the "none others employed as chief of State" part. Those were only 11 out of 44 presidents, and some of those weren't even Irish-American

  • @emiratesking93 You CATHOLIC bastard!
