We draw several hundred here in my hometown when we play. We got 1200 for the last dance party we did. You can indeed check out one of my bands I'm in. There's a half dozen takes from a live morning show from the local Fox affiliate KMPH in Fresno, CA. Just do a search here for "Lee Riders".
didnt say the area doesnt have any.. said that the majority of the local bands weren't a big draw. and by big draw i mean if we put the bands name on the marquee outside and the place does have 7-800 people then we count it as a loss.
and i have to try (and most times succeed) to have the vibe of a live band.. every night we're open. or i'm not doing my job.
so what band are you in if i may ask and is there any video to watch of it?
Okay, definition: "Great live Bands" are bands that play and sing in tune, stay true to the cover, and ALL of them work that crowd. Not just one ego-maniacal pot-bellied loud mouth with a microphone and a giant stereo. You cannot BEAT the vibe of a live band. No way no how. Forget your "$25,000" artists. I'm talkin' just your average wedding reception gig, fund raiser, boogie woogie party, whatever. LIVE BANDS. They can be like a time machine! Sorry your area doesn't have any. = (
our boss definitly will haggle a couple of bucks when he is spending upwards of $25,000 or more, to book a nationally recognizable artist, then he still has to pay thousands for a sound & light crew. and the majority of local bands i'm sorry to say are just not a big draw.
and i haven't spun a disc in years -digital is easier and lets you work your crowd better.
Speaking as someone who plays in live bands for fun and income for the last 30 years, I'd like to say that SPINNING DISCS SUCKS! I still find it hard to take when some folks won't bat an eye at spending a grand for a DJ and then haggle a couple bucks for a great live band.
speaking as someone who has been spinning country music in a nightclub for a living for the last 10 years, i'd like to just say that LINEDANCING SUCKS!
This song was my favorite growing up

This is how the version we do was written. But instead of the knee rolls, most people hop twice with their hands on their rear. Fun one!
