I really like this issue of Vogue Italia however it would be nice if the pages and ads could be balanced on regular bases. So it wouldn't be necessary to have a special all-black issue.

The all-black issue of Vogue Italia has hit stands with black models filling the pages!
Great right?
Why are most of the ads not showing those black faces?
Is that black is beautiful we just don't buy from a dark face like we do from lighter faces?
Is it the lighter the face the more money will be made?

[ Wow, I am so sorry the editing on this video is so sloppy. ]

  • @purplefashion03 black people get skin cancer too.why do you people attack people with albinism all the time they have nothing to do with your low selfesteem there is people with albinism in every race.

  • Yes, black is soo beautiful. Melanin is a gift, very beautiful, and powerful. I can't imagine being afraid of the sun like so many white people and others who are light skinned. Thats not natural to me. Sun means beauty, youth, energy, life. Looking albino and close to albino isn't pretty. It looks abnormal.Sorry guys but thats the truth.

  • This is from CIA World Factbook: "white 79.96%, black 12.85%, Asian 4.43%, Amerindian and Alaska native 0.97%, native Hawaiian and other Pacific islander 0.18%, two or more races 1.61% (July 2007 estimate)" Also the most common ancestry in the US is German. That is why they may favor blondes over brunettes.

  • @rheniumlake No, they don't make up 3/4 of the U.S., furthermore blond, blue-eyed Whites make-up well less half of the White American population!

  • @amasonga I dont think you get my point at all. White people are over 75% of the American population, so its natural they would have more White models representing these women compared to any other racial group. Its not racism its just how the country happens to be made up. If there were more Black people, the numbers of Black models would rise to meet demand.

  • @rheniumlake O.K. I get your point, however my point was that there should be more extremely dark models in order to combat the stereotype against racism in general. You forgot that the ratio of blond, blue-eyed, pink-skinned women is much higher than very dark-skin chocolotate women. Thus a subtle racism is very present in the fashion industry especially in the U.S.

  • @amasonga my point is that the fashion industry is not racist. They just tend to prefer tan peach to chocolate skin, not extremely light or dark. The reason is because most women are in between White and Black so thats why advertisers prefer women who appeal to the majority: tan White women, or light Black women.

  • @rheniumlake What is your point?

  • @OonaAnanka beauty and skin toned dont correlate! But fashion businesses like to choose medium toned women because most of the worlds skin tone is closer to the middle. They want to advertise to women who think that they can buy clothes that suit them. Women with really pale or dark skin are a smaller number. So the businesses advertise to the biggest demographic: medium toned women (which can be from any race). Thats why models look golden/bronze/peach/chocolate/

  • @TheIsabelle333 Its not racist to have a preference. I prefer Brazilian models and Im not Brazilian.
