Ever wondered what these old synths sounded like. Here is a sample.

It's a Keio Organ Company MaxiKorg (before Korg was even the company name KeioORGan = KORG! They made this in 1975. It has no memory, no presets, you have to set every dial the way you want it manually. It sounds awesome still, totally under-rated synth in my opinion.

One of this synths oscillators is broken, it would be so much more awesome if both worked. This keyboard is basically two MiniKorg 700s synthesizers in one.

Enjoy

  • My dad owned one of these. He threw it out 3 years ago because an oscillator was broken. I picked up synths 2 years ago. It could have probably been repaired. These now sell for $3k+

  • @drakeishfyre - bummer, on this one the top OSC was dead too. Even then someone paid over 1200 US for it in that condition a little over 2 years ago, I sold it about a month after making this video).

  • My keyboard playing is stinky, I know... Guitar and Bass are my main instruments. Anything I can't play on keyboards I usually just draw it into the sequencer or slow the track down until I can play complex parts. This video was really just to demo this synth and it's killer sound.

  • My uncle gave me one of these recently. It's a great synth. Though on mine, I can tell the portamento doesn't work the way it should.

  • can you control this thing via cv/gate?

  • i need this synth! if someone wants to sell ask me. :D

  • These synthesizers are hard to find. I used to have a Univox Mini-Korg a long time ago. I got rid of it a few years ago. I would love to get my hands on the Maxi-Korg from 1975.

  • Ever willing to part with one of these?

Back in the 80s, my father used a Maxi-korg as his main synth (and two others he forgot the name of because of how crap they were compared to his korg).

Unfortunately, he sold his in the 90s a year before I was born :-/

Anyways, with xmas and his birthday coming up soon, I'm trying to find something nice... he always reminds me that he prefers his maxi over my r3, lol

  • Good grief! I have TWO of these. The Maxikorg AND the 800DV, I had a Jupiter 6 but I sold it because when you have TWo maxikorgs, you need little else in life...:)

  • Nice demo. It's a pity the 2end osc is broken, it sounds so rich if you mix both..

I consider buying this synth after I watched this demo:

    /watch?v=7r6dZR8bNP4&feature=related&fmt=18

    It sounds really awesome.
