superb cinema. I haven't enjoyed a movie so much in years. and to think that someone thought it necessary to remake this. unbelievable!

It's a treat to watch two fantastic actors who seem to be enjoying themselves; those laughs as she's sent away seem genuine.
Amazing that the year before she won basically a lifetime achievement Oscar for Guess Who's Coming to Dinner; they didn't realize she would truly earn an Oscar just a year later.

@StreetlightEagle Hepburn got hers (even if it was a tie). Denying O'Toole was a travesty.

Really good, thank you. Having studied all this, it's even more fun. I could never have appreciated it before. I'm right here in France, too. Shared.

ultimate dysfunctional family

This movie was rated G when it came out; there was no such thing as PG. I was still in elementary school and even though it was mostly over my head, at the time, I remember enjoying it. Now all years these later I watch it again with an adult's perspective and I enjoyed it a lot more. Katherine Hepburn is just perfect with her biting dialogue. Obscure anachronisms: Modern dog breeds that did not exist at the time, such as the German shepherd in the dining hall.

Thank you. What a script, what acting.
Thanks for uploading and in such good quality, too!
Watching this film I realise how shallow I am. I mean Henry and Eleanor can take hate and love disgrace and dishonor and still wish for more ("I hope we never die") how rich in spirit is that! It seems to me we wallow in a gigantic mire and to take all this dirt and shovel back sirt at other - now that takes courage and fortitude :D

Such humanity. I'm glad such a work of art exists.
