Spike Jones and His City Slickers were among the many performers showcased in "Soundies," short musical films designed to be played in special jukeboxes. This Soundie, which features the cornpone-flavored hillbilly tune PASS THE BISCUITS, MIRANDY (1942), was directed by Reginald LeBorg (THE MUMMY'S GHOST, WEIRD WOMAN, THE BLACK SLEEP).

  • Nice!

  • i saw this on matinee at the bijou

    i swear

  • Spike Jones is THE BEST BEST BEST!!!!

  • @RRaquello To add further.. The 1942 Cardinals also adopted this song in 1942 when they trailed the Brooklyn Dodgers by 10 1/2 games in mid-August. The Cards went on to erase Brooklyn's lead and won 106 games that year. To put gravy on the biscuits, they then beat the heavily favored Yankees 4 games to 1 in the World Series!

  • Just... such a catchy tune!!

Beats all the tosh you get today!!

  • I remember watching a soundie machine in a New York soda fountain shop when I was a kid in the 1940s. You put a coin in the slot and it played a black and white film about 5 or 10 minutes long if my memory is correct. I never put any money in it because there were always some teenagers around who did. I had heard about TV and I thought that was what I was watching.

  • Good job, but I still prefer my uncles version - The Milo Twins.

  • Just discovered Spike. Really gets you Jiving

  • I saw this in a cartoon re-run in the early 1950's.
