For the video installation, 'Bodies', Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven creates a mise-en-scène through the setting of a subterranean chamber. In this cave-like atmosphere the artist has video recorded a live performance with the Antwerp noise band Club Moral, which will be replayed in the exact location that it was originally recorded. Sound and architecture combine in this work to create an intense experience of dream-like, futuristic enactments.
The installation has two video projections, one shows the band on the rear wall, the other shows the audience on the facing wall. This is the Audience Movie (Note: this movie has some black at the beginning and end, and the soundtrack only has ambient noise. Check the Band Movie for a full soundtrack).
Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven works in drawing, computer graphics, video and performance. Text features alongside images, underlining, like song lyrics, the message of Van Kerckhoven's proud, sometimes exhibitionist female figures. Music plays an important role in her creative production in parallel to her visual output.
Founded by Van Kerckhoven and Danny Devos, Club Moral focuses on the presentation of art and live events. Currently, Club Moral plays with Van Kerckhoven on electronics, Devos on vocals, Mauro Pawlowski on drums and Aldo Struyf on bass.
