@moproducer "Does this look like a man who had all that he could eat to you?' ;-D

Notice the hot dog bun? That's found only on the East Coast! Still used for lobster rolls.
-
@moproducer Maybe the freezer was on the fritz.
-
@Trixie68 You have not lived until you had a Howard Johnson hot dog grilled on a buttered New England style roll.

My mom's first job was waiting tables at a HoJo's restaurant in Pa. That food looked good, even in black-and-white!

@gadee1118 Well, Braum's does the same thing. Shame they only have restaurants in a 250 mile radius from their plant.

@68lincoln Now when you see an orange roof, you can find a good, clean place to lay your head with friendly service and affordable prices. If you want good food and delicious ice cream, try elsewhere. The only thing you're getting at breakfast is a bowl of cereal or maybe a pastry.

@1959AverellHarriman When my dad told me that they stopped at Howard Johnson's for ice cream, I couldn't believe it. I had always thought it was just a hotel chain.

where in florida?

Theres a place in nokomis florida called Captains Eddies that sells "Ho Jos" style clams.. I swear they are exactly like HJ's. I couldnt believe it as I was transported back. If your there you must see for yourself.
I don't give a m.f. flying fig if it "wasn't health food"! We didn't eat out every single night of the week when I was growing up! If I WERE eating fried clams 7 nights a week, then I'd have reason to worry! But eating out was an OCCASION, so it was PERFECTLY FINE to have a TREAT such as fried clams. If you want to chew on freshly-mown grass with your superior attitude, go ahead! But don't inflict your asinine attitude on the rest of us just because you're miserable!

Every Friday night was all-you-can-eat clam night. Once, my brother & I got kicked out of HoJo's after 33 servings...we were told we'd had 'all we could eat'.
Fast forward 25 years to the last remaining HoJo in St. Louis...I told the waitress that story, and she came back with an entire serving tray heaped with clams (and I ate every one of 'em).
It's a shame they're not around anymore; nothin' in the world finer than that.
