Here is an excerpt from a cornet solo "Hailstorm" by William Rimmer, which I played for a Fox 2 TV program (St. Louis) in about 2004 to advertise an upcoming concert by the Saint Louis Brass Band.. I was very fortunate in having a superb accompanist (Billie Derham) who was also my piano teacher at that time.

Hailstorm has always been one of my favorite solos growing up because it features some very extensive triple tonguing passages. It is actually a cornet solo, but I think it works just as well for euphonium.

  • I'm 15 and I'm practicing this on Bflat Euphonium. I think it is a wonderfull peice and is played amazingly :3

  • @SmeegForBran Many thanks

  • Anyway I can get this sheet music? And is this bass clef?

  • @tpainpyro2014 Music is published by Wright and Round. You can do a Google search on them. A good site is brassband.co. uk

If you scroll down to the cornet + piano version, you can see a pdf copy of the sheet music. I recommend you buy a copy to support the publisher. I think it is only available in treble clef.

  • Excellent. Haven't heard Hailstorm for years.

  • @trekker0612 Thanks for your comment, Paul

  • This was FABULOUS Jeff.....you need to become the president of the Boise Brass Band, if there isn't one you should start it.

it was more enjoyable after i didn't click twice and doubled timed everything you were playing.

can't wait to see your next concert. Patricia

  • Many thanks for your comment!

  • I'd stand and applaud that performance and I'm a taciturn Yorkshireman.
