This is just a proof of concept for the technology. The tasks users actually need to do are then studied and the visualisation adapted to make it "good for" problems that can't be solved by 2D state machine diagrams. You can see the "Refined 3D UML State Machine Diagram" in later videos or read the MODELS'08 paper "X3D-UML: 3D UML State Machine Diagrams".
