Franz Völker (1899 - 1965). One of the most beautiful tenor voices in history. Where are voices like this today? So balanced and free with clear vowels, a great vibrato action and ringing top! This is a true dramatic tenor with steely intensity in the sound.

  • Gänsehaut! Bravo Franz Völker! Wissen Sie, daß sein eigentlicher Name Sülzenfuß war?

  • I did not know that. Why did he change his name?

  • Thank you for this excellent recording. I wonder whether someone has the Völker's "Addio alla madre from Cavalleria rusticana.

  • He changed it like so many others:Lucine Amara (=Lucy Amarganian), Leonard Warren (=Warenoff), Inge Borkh (=Ingeborg Simon), Anna De Cavalieri (=Anne McKnight), Margarita Roberti (=Margharet Roberts), Titta Ruffo (=Ruffo Cafiero Titta)-you must know that because you are named after him-, Rise Stevens (=Rise Steenberg), Timo Callio (=Timo Mustakallio), Dino Ego (=Konstantinos Egkolfopoulos), Maria Callas (=Mairi Kalogeropoulou), Nicola Zaccaria (=Nikos Zaxariou), Marou Falliani (=Castagna)

  • Das hatte ich doch ...vor einem Monat korrigiert und geschrieben. Lesen Sie alle Kommentare der Seite

  • FALSCH!!!!

NICHT Franz Völker, sondern MAX LORENZ hieß urprünglich Sülzenfuß!!!!

  • Sorry, mistake (oops!)I have confused him with the other great Max Lorenz! His name was originally Sülzenfuß.I can imagine, that he changed his name ,because Sülze is a food in Germany made from the head of pig (Schweinskopfsülze) and Fuß is foot...so not really nice name for an artist.Just like Anja Silja (her real name is Langwagen=long car)

  • Pain has no languages--pain is ever the same...Der Bajazzo...Il Pagliaccio...his sufference achieves the bottom in every tongue,in every form

Outstanding performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Like a German Gigli,Völker gives to the character ta strange sensation of solemnity...

    Thanks,Mr.Cafiero,for posting!
