@theboss1967able it sounds like parody to me. or really cynical and self indulgent drugged out slacker strum and ramble. i kept looking to see in the interview if the beard and hair are real. i guess he's for real, which makes it all even weirder. the interviews are really entertaining. "run on songs". for sure.

@misscloudstrifexxx i only just heard him today. interview with some scottish lad. i thought "this is either the most brilliant parody ever". Or that he is simply just a very, very strange individual. his rap is funny and outrageous, interesting & thought provoking. then i checked his music, and i have to say that i'm still not sure exactly what he is,if he is ever "serious" or what he's trying to put across. he's out there playing & that's serious enough for me.

@markmarktarmann I agree with you to an extent. I think he traverses the line dividing comedy and sadness brilliantly. But his music is his life, I don't think the breakdown of a marriage and the sadness that goes with that (both strong themes in the album) is anything but serious. Calling him a consumate musician just means I'm in awe of his talent and skill as a musician, regardless of the attitude with which he writes.

@misscloudstrifexxx no he is not. it's all just a austin slacker joke. i can't believe anybody is discussing this seriously. it's really brilliant and funny, especially the interviews. but the music aint any kind of serious attempt at anything serious.

Maybe it's because I grew up when songwriting was crafted by geniuses, but this guy is ok at best. There is nothing magical about his what he does at all , he's just ok, another new songwriter who people have tAgged onto because they are avidly searching for music with meaning, I'm sorry but it's not this guy's material you need.
