I saw someone else had uploaded the first part of the "A Winter Story" trilogy as a series of three parts and thought I'd do the same, as well as upload the other two "episodes" from the series. "A Winter Story" is the first part of a series of three 20+ minute "episodes" made by Siriol Productions of Wales back in the mid 80s, with "Easter Egg" and "Turkey Love" being the other two. I discovered the film several years ago on a VHS tape my mom recorded off of the TV back when I was really young. The tape had survived but wasn't in the greatest of condition. I didn't remember watching it when I was little but I did set out to find information on it after watching it again. I found the website (which is no longer online) of Siriol Productions and got in touch with one of the people who worked on the film. In doing so, he sent me the three VHS tapes with all three of the "episodes", as well as an animation cell of the main character. It was interesting because I had the US version originally, which had a lot of the "gun scenes" chopped out to the point that the first episode lost about 5 minutes of run time and actually made minimal sense at one point. Still, I did like some of the US voices a little more than the UK voices, but it is still a lovely series of short films and the UK version definitely beats the US version. The US version even has some different dialog and you will see one of the characters refer to the male human by his name in the UK version accidentally, since the male human is known as "Farmer Smith" in the US version. Also, Mic doesn't have a name in the US version.

In any case, the main characters are as follows:

Mic - The young fox cub
Sion - Mic's father
Sian - Mic's mother
Gobble Gobble - The turkey

There are a couple of nameless and voiceless characters in the series as well, but I won't ruin it for you. This film also has some well written and sung songs in it that greatly amplify the experience, at least for me. Do enjoy the film, it is a classic animation that apart from the VHS quality was very beautifully done.

  • Im not good at deciphering modestly heavy brithish accents, but are the BOTH named Shaun?

  • @superaider1000 Sion is the male's name and Sian is the female's name, I know, they sound like brother and sister or something, right?

  • @superaider1000 Welsh actually. Or at least Sion is.

  • Lovely animation :) I'm so disappointed Sion and Sian did not appear in the sequels.

  • @KeenyFox Oh yes, I agree ^^ By the way, your icon looks as though it might be from a similar show. If that is the case, what show is it? :)

  • @KalteLanze It is from The Foxbusters ;)

  • @KeenyFox I knew I recognized the style XP Thanks ^^
