My First Head-on Collision - SCCA PRO-7 Race at Cal Speedway

This is the start of the opening race of the 2007 SCCA PRO-7 regional class at California Speedway. After a great start I was coming off the oval through turns three and four when I was punted from behind (still trying to figure out who that was!) which spun me around 270 degrees. That set me up with a front row seat to watch race go by, when the next car to come around the corner had no where to go but drive straight into my car. OOUCH!

No drivers injured, but a few cars will need some work before the next race. Also,special thanks goes out to the all workers for a great response to the incident.

@CRXSI1987 Regional class in the CSCC and AZ region and possibly others too. Basically a heated up version of SRX-7 and very close to an ITA car.

@CRXSI1987 Could be... Google Pro-7 and you find the rules for the class, although they are being reworked due to the 12a rotors and housings going unobtanium.

I passed all the cars cleanly and while I drove in deep I was in complete control. If you watch the video closely (perhaps watch the other clip that plays at full speed) you will see that I was hit from behind by another over anxious driver who got in too deep and too hot. You do not see me running into the back of the car in front of me...

@dylanleeFLY Well they do not really have restrictions like that as they do at pro races. Generally you will have garage/paddock access and grid access if you are old enough and dressed out properly. Unless it is an enduro race there are no "pit stops."

@dylanleeFLY You can come out and watch SCCA racing for free (or next to nothing). I think ACS (formerly CalSpeedway) charges nothing, Wilow springs is like a $5 gate fee.
