A qeleshe is a traditional skull cap, which is worn by Albanian men, usually from highlands of Albania or Kosovo and particularly in the Arberesh villages in Italy.
The cap is made from one single piece of woolen felt, usually white, that is molded to the shape of the head. The name qeleshe comes from the Albanian word for wool which is lesh. It has a conical shape that resembles an egg shell cut More.. in half. Sometimes this is worn along with a bandana tied around the head.
We find qeleshe in Etruscan, Ancient "Greek" pictures/ statues, in EID MAR - An Ancient Roman Coin that Commemorates the Assassination of Caesar, in Ancient Illyrian sculptures, etc
In those archaeological discoveries is very visible the presence of qeleshe covering the heads of some ancient heroes

  • @TheDownloadfreegames Fustanella is albanian word for DRESS.. GAYREEK

  • Fustanella and Cap=Albanian

  • @TheDownloadfreegames ARE U SURE ? LOOK WHAT YOUR GREEKS SAY ABOUT FUSTANELLA /watch?v=DKSS4-sQAkM

  • @ArkoudoROMANTIC Well I frankly dont understand why this kind of hate between greeks and albanians. We are all people, we have the same colour of the skin, we have been nabours forever, ancient greeks were good at many things, we were illyrians and we were brave and very nice people. Some of us still are.We have been invaded from the turks for 500 years and we really Hate them for that. But in the end, our nation never became a real muslim country. We pretended to be so. Greetings

  • OMG, cant people get along, the comments that I heard in here.We are all humans

  • Another word in Albanian for the skull cap is Plis. Romans have a certain hat that they call the Pilaeus, and it is a hat that is worn by freed slaves to recognize them as freed men. The Illyrians were lovers of freedom. They loved freedom so much that they become the masters of their former owners by the time of Diocletian; as a matter of fact the name Ilir can be translated as "the free one." I am not stipulating that all Illyrians were free nor that the plis has roman origins, just commenting
