I played this piece in my first year of University. Each instrument part is very simple yet, comes together to make a beautiful and powerful moving piece. :)

  • I just came across this today - amazing to read all your kind comments about Dusk! BTW, I don't know which recording this is, but it's a bit too fast (especially at the climax) - I like for the piece to remain very slow throughout (q=48 or so). Just FYI for the next time you play - if the director is going too fast, tell him or her. ;)

Hope everyone has a great day and keeps making music!

  • 2:41 that french horn lick gave me chills.

  • its so beautiful!!!!!

  • Our high school had a part of this song for our show last year it was amazing and i swear to god this song is in saving private ryan

  • Gatesville High School is playing this for UIL. At this point, we have played the whole piece with our director sitting in the band.

  • They went a too fast I think the speed on the paper said 44. I played this for GMEA District 4 Honor Band and even though I played clarinet I wished I played Bass clarinet. The song almost brought me to tears after we finished playing it. On this song the slower you play it the better. We had an AMAZING flute player too the played the hell out her part. The song was just amazing!!!!!!!!!!! I love it!!!!!

  • Like if you've seen Steven Bryant in person.

  • were currently working on this piece and i love the euphonium part

  • A piece doesn't have to be challenging to sound great, but that depends completely on the composer.

  • I got chills at 1:26, 1:54, 2:02, 2:30, 2:38, 2:41, 2:47, and 4:05 with some mini-chills in between. Absolutely love this piece. I'm playing 1st horn on this for our concert music at MCHS, GA and the chords in the horns alone that we hit are beautiful. Now we just need "Abram's Pursuit" to sound this good xD

  • i love this piece and i think they did i great job, and i hate myself cause i always find myself saying, "late entrance". im not even a director .

  • Playing this for Regional Band. Hopefully I'll be able to get 1st chair on Bass Clarinet and play the ending with the clarinet and flute. Luckily I've already played this piece, and that part prior to regions :O

For the song itself, probably one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever played. :'3 <3
