This video is a demonstration of iLogic the rules added to a multi-body solid in Autodesk Inventor. The part is a cabinet door that has rules that will not allow it to be sized too large or small (min/max), it has adjustable rails and stiles that have a rule that automatically resets their widths to their defaults if the door is size drops below a given size, it has four different hinge bore configurations that automatically apply themselves depending on the height of the door.

Other features include: an option for setting handedness to left, right, or none, and an option for setting five different edge profiles or none.

Future tutorials for this door will likely include adding more panel profiles to match what a typical shop may have, Grass Concealed Hinge option (this one bores holes based on the Blum Concealed Hinge), and a control for typical hinge bore edge offsets. I may add a corner notch and other rules so that it can be used as end panels as well, and at some point, it will need to be made into an iPart as well, but not quite yet. ..

As is, this door is a mini program-in-a-part that could be used very rapidly design the 3D models for all of the doors in a typical custom kitchen. Soon it will be added to an iCabinet, and will at that point start to take orders from more global commands. The possibilities are pretty much endless and can be applied to the design of anything. Cars, rockets, airplanes, you name it.

More to come shortly...
