I wrote this song in 1973, just three days after meeting my second wife. She was living in Sydney at the time whilst I was living in Melbourne. My wishes did come true. We continued our long distance romance. A year later she moved down to Melbourne and in 1975 we married.
I sang all the vocals on this and played all the instruments as well.

March 20

I met you on a Tuesday, a most eventful night
I knew my heart was taken, gave in without a fight
And when at last I took you home, you said that I could stay
I felt my life was changing into a better way

When I woke next morning, I realised what I'd done
I'd left those clouds behind me, replaced them with the sun
And when you came and looked at me, in your smiling way
I felt sadness in my heart, 'cause I knew I could not stay

For very soon that silver bird, will fly me right back home
I know that I will miss you, and sometimes feel alone
But I'm a better man now, because of meeting you
And who can know and who can tell, my wishes may come true

  • Nice work, Ferdy! I have been out of the loop for a bit -writing lots of songs but not recording much.

Will post a few new ones in the next week or so. Hope all's well with you down under.
