My thoughts on Chesley B. 'Sully' Sullenberger III's heroics as US Airways Airbus A320 Flight 1549 lands on the Hudson River, by Manhatten.

  • I'm sure Sully would be the first one to tell you that he would rather NOT have an encore!!!

  • I guess that the best thing WE can take away from this is the fact that this is as one POSITIVE example of coolness under pressure, of dedication to the ideals of one's profession, etc. Here was an incident where the BEST outcome was made possible by someone prepared by training to do just this task. No-one seeks out a crisis, but if presented with one..... perhaps we can remember that not all hope is lost if you keep your cool, etc etc. Perhaps a wristband WWSD: what would SULLY do!!

  • It could have been a disaster if that was a larger plane and the engines were intact. Why aren't planes equiped with emergency water skiis?

  • I have pondered that as well....thinking, what is the point? wow, what a great way to make us a believer. It seems as though the Captain doesn't want the media attention...that in itself is amazing bcuz most people would revel in the attention

  • I KNOW. Exactly...what does Sully do for an encore?!?! LMAO

  • Cool glasses!

  • I've never been addicted to anything, besides beer but I gave that up over a year ago. I'm now addicted to my "hero". He is a hero, but no I would not want to talk to the press either. However, it is demanded. Stay tuned. Thanks for this!

  • It turns out that the engines are now missing from the plane. So add one more requirement for water landings: come down softly, but not so softly that the engines stay on! The plane will float much better without them.
