Vapauden lunnaat -Ransom of liberty

In Summer 1941 when Germany started Operation Barbarossa Soviet Union began to bomb Finnish cities starting what is now known as Continuation war, and in December Finnish army had invaded most of Karelia, including areas lost in Winter war of 1939-1940, front lines remained stagnant until summer 1944 when Soviet army began it's major offensive against Finnish forces, due to this large scale attack yet again tens of thousands of Finnish evacuates from Winter war that had returned their homes in Karelia in 1941-1944 were forced to leave their homes, this song tells about one of these evacuates who is visiting his childhood home, mourning the depressing state of his beloved Karelia, he decides to take with him a fistfull of soil from his home yard, and asks his family to put it in his coffin with him once he leaves for his journey beyond 'the Great Border' (ie. afterlife)
