PVC shouldn't make a good bow... but it DOES.

@betterthanmcgyver I'm sorry, I didn't realize you've been making these bows for over two years. I've been making and messing with pvc bows since I was a little kid, so I'm not sure what you're trying to get at there. As for calling them a horned bow, I don't know where that came from. I only refer to them as horse, recurve, flattened pvc, or maybe Asiatic composite replica bows. As for Impossible Bow, it's called marketing. I used to respect you, you don't have to go around bashing others.

@BackyardBowyer how do u attach the tips to the PVC.

I'm both archer & slingshot shooter, but I think PVC would be good for making an atlatl but it also could be used for a bow.

do you have a long bow version?

Ah, thank you very much for the reply, experience, and tip.
Hey, that is really cool. Seems easier than tillering a piece of wood. :D And all the complicated bends on it seems easier too. Congrats on the book. Hope you make money off of it.
I was curious. Is there a chance of the PVC breaking due to age... maybe brittleness coming in? This is only a guess. I don't know. Maybe you've had some experience with it.

@huyked Thanks, it is a lot easier than building wood bows. It's the easiest way I know how to make a reasonably decent replica Asiatic recurve for very little time and money.
Yes, PVC does get brittle with time and use. I've found that as long as you cover it with something that blocks UV light and you don't leave it out in the sun too long, it will hold up fairly well. I have a couple that are well over a year old and still fine after a few thousand shots through them.

How do you flatten the limbs? Just put pressure on it to form it into kinda oval?

@The95Genni Apply heat to the pipe until it is pliable and then flatten it in a jig. The jig is really just a thinner (3/4") board with a pair of spacers about 1/4" shorter than your pipe diameter on one end. That will give you a nice taper from handle to tip and help distribute flex through both limbs. More efficient limbs means more power and speed versus draw weight.
