Wrap around title sequence given to a strand of horror plays, shown on BBCTV, between 19 April-24May 1968, sadly no longer in BBC archive. The creepy soundtrack was provided by the now defunct BBC Radiophonic Workshop. This clip was discovered on a VHS of one of their old showreels, hence the timecode.

I saw one second of this sequence when i was about 12, and it shocked me so much, I shut my eyes and went to bed...I didn't sleep! For the past 43 years, I've been remembering the shaking face as a skull, but our BBC2 reception was pretty fuzzy in those days. It's still quite disturbing (although the housefly puppet looks pretty silly). Thanks for uploading this, you've nailed a ghost for me.

@PluggyPoo Yeah thank you Pluggy, I noticed that afterwards. Shame they were wiped by the BBC like they wiped loads of good stuff from the 60s including MOST of Top Of The Pops, and much of the 2nd & 3rd series of both 'Till Death Us Do Part' and 'Not Only But Also' with Pete & Dud

@TheKenfig According to the poster's note (above) it was found on a Radiophonic Workshop showreel.

How DID you find THIS ?? ; my previous research read that NONE of this exists even in the BBC archives as, after it's second of two showings in 1970, it was completely wiped by the Corporation. I saw these opening titles last in 1970 as a 7 year old boy staying up too late on a Friday night after the show 24 Hours ; scared the shit out of me !!
