http://www.FatLossBlogger.com - Today was day 18 of P90X and I watched the Yoga X DVD today. As I've mentioned before, yoga is much more difficult than I thought it would be but I'm definitely starting to get the hang of it. I'm still running into some problems with some of the more difficult poses and positions, but things are coming along nicely.

One thing that I'm having problems with is my hands slipping forward in the downward dog position. My hands start to get wet when I begin sweating and slip forward on the yoga mat. I've tried different yoga mats in an attempt to solve this, but no dice. If any of you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

The diet went well again today and I'm still on track...

Stay tuned for tomorrow's update and stop by the blog at http://www.FatLossBlogger.com

  • I just use carpet for that move. You definitely have more resistance. The antiperspirant also sounds like a good tip. Glad you are making progress on yoga - I've definitely learned to love it.

  • I've tried the carpet as well and while it's a little improvement, I still find myself slipping.

  • There use to be a dude on here all the time, Baymafia, he had a tip for slippage. He says to use the roll on deoderant and it helps. I just dig down with my fingers if I feel a slip coming. I cant use the mat I have had all this time because it is too thick and makes ballance movements a pain in the butt. I just go bare carpet and pray I dont crack my head open.

Glad to hear you dig Yoga too.

  • Yeah, I'm going to try that trick and see if it helps. I'm actually using a treadmill mat that I picked up, it's much larger than a standard yoga mat and I use it for all of the programs to protect the carpet. The downside is that it's a little thicker and like you, I have a problem with some of the balance moves. I may try those without the mat next week and see how it goes...

  • For hand slippage you can try a little antiperspirant on your palms and fingers When you know you're going to be doing a lot of downward dog moves.

  • Cool, thanks for the tip. I'll try it next week and see how it goes...

  • @kaaren001 I think the dog laughed at me as well lol. I started Monday, let me know how you like plyo. Warning: It's probably the hardest thing you'll do if you. But I will keep you updated and I hope that you will do the same :)

  • @taytaysims7 really good to know, I started on Weds so I didn't get a chance to do plyo on Tuesday, but next week I will - the Yoga was ... well let's just say the dog snickered at me. keep me updated on your progress !

  • @kaaren001 today was day 1 of yoga for me also, omg! I like plyo better than yoga x

  • Today was day 1 of YOGA - I STRUGGLED !!! Thanks for the review, made me feel like there is hope :)

  • Wear a headband.Keep the floor dry.

  • leather weightlifting/training gloves are good for sweaty palms if you dont mind the discomfort, trust me hahaha, if you buy good ones they breathe rather nice and give you that lil extra hold on the mat with no heat rash.

  • JP,

Here's the tip my friend. Keep a towel next to your mat. As you begin to sweat and slip, throw the towel down where your hands go and that will prevent slippage.

    Rock On!

    Tony
