  • @iGutenberg The fantastic thing with this piece is the impression it can make just because people dont follow the indications you mention. You get the differences in length and dynamics as results of the resources of the choir in question and of the conductor's interpretation and of the acoustics. The present version is a very good one and the longest I have heard. Others even repeat the original Bach version at the end.

  • Oh my god, this is heart-wrenchingly beautiful.

  • Just listened this piece live one hour ago!

  • @tbridge001 The score indicates the speed of each divisi group (specified as 5 to each group), by way of how long each quarter note should be held: from 4 seconds per quarter note for the quickest group, to 12 seconds for the slowest group (4, 6, 8, 10, 12).

  • This is a fabulous piece and very nicely done here... but every group here on YouTube does it in a different way, and this doesn't follow Nystedt's score, though keeps to the spirit. Does it say anywhere in the score that interpretation is open to the individual choir? I missed that....

  • Amazing song! but sure it's damn hard singing it :I

  • Bach may have died, but he lives through his immortal music.
