Closest FD is on N. Dragoon St, about 3 miles away. That's approximately 8 mins driving time in traffic (assuming they are not busy with something else). The fire response time here is about average, but it when you're standing there waiting it feels like an eternity. Fire engines don't do 100 mph to calls, they only drive slightly faster than the speed limit when traffic allows.
Don't let the city close fire stations or reduce staffing levels. It will only get worse and people will will die.

They did their best driving code 3 is a dangerous thing it is our responsibility to keep the public safe while we are responding they also were in radio service on the east side of their first due. its the people who criticize us and then vote to lower our staffing and close stations and trucks. but when its their emergencey they are very quick to point the finger at us.

A 7 minute response time is average to good depending on what they were doing at the time of the call. Even if they were in the engine with it running they would have to get out and put their turnouts on. In my opinion this was a good response by TFD. Also dude yelling in the video the gas is going to explode; it is very very unlikely that the gas lines are going to explode. The only real time that a gas explosion will occur is if the city's gas lines exploded first which caused the fire.

The fire department might have reason for a 7 minute response but the police department did a bad job at responding.

in regards to the response time, you have to drive 60 MPH to go 1 mile in a minute. Even if the firemen were sitting in the engine with the motor running and could drive 60 MPH without interruption to the scene of this fire it would have taken from 3 to 5 minutes to arrive depending on how far the station was from the fire. But they can not be sitting in the engine with the motor running, nor can they drive that fast, and they have to drive defensibly to avoid accidents along the way.

@thekindledone the better quote was..."hey you know your backyard is one fire but you cant do anything about it so stay back"

@0524cami while i will agree it is silly to think it will blow up , it is still always smarter to get a safe distance from a burning house not knowing what may be inside especially because they were horders and could have had propane tanks, gas... etc in the garage, you can see it's full and the owner was severly burned on her arm and back from the flames being blown at her. Also i think moron is a little harsh considering you do not know how you might react in the same situation.
