The Story of Cosmetics, released on July 21st, 2010, examines the pervasive use of toxic chemicals in our everyday personal care products, from lipstick to baby shampoo. Produced with Free Range Studios and hosted by Annie Leonard, the seven-minute film by The Story of Stuff Project reveals the implications for consumer and worker health and the environment, and outlines ways we can move the industry away from hazardous chemicals and towards safer alternatives. The film concludes with a call for viewers to support legislation aimed at ensuring the safety of cosmetics and personal care products.

@weaselfierce It's never really been tried, but the times in history we have been closest to libertainism people have been the most prosperous.

The bigger and more far reaching the government controls on society are the worse things gets throughout all of history and no matter what the region is.

Government neglect is the best thing that can happen to an economy. Hong Kong is the best example. When Britian stop tring to control them, they went from a third world, to booming, quickly.

Earlier in the video she says that companies won't take the hazardous chemicals out without government intervention but then later she says that companies are already starting to take the hazardous chemicals our on their own. Why I am the only person who notices these things?

And why are many companies starting to get the hazardous chemicals out? Because the consumers are voting for them to do this by buying products without hazardous chemicals. This is an example of how well capitalism can work.

How much lead and the other "toxic" elements were found in your body? You do know that all those "toxic chemicals" found in your body are just trace elements? If you know the Law of Conservation of Matter and Energy then that part of the video wouldn't be surprising. Everything else, just tell me a bit more in depth on how these chemicals are toxic. It's the 21st century. The world ain't clear ma'am.

I'm noticing a reoccuring theme with these videos. None of this is our fault but the big mean corparations fault and we need government to save us.

Every indivdual has a right to buy, or not buy a product. If we don't buy a product, I guarentee the companies will stop making it immediately. We don't need government to save us. Vote with your wallet

Big government insures big corruption and in the process spends big more and makes things worse. Shrink government and all will be solved

Instead of waiting for the government (whose members are probably getting a ton of money from the cosmetic industry) to come in and make laws to protect you, you can just simply choose not to buy those products. Better yet, start a boycotting companies if you think they ought to not use certain chemicals in their products. Change happens when people take it upon themselves to create the change, not when they wait around for someone to come do it for them.

i disagree to the video: i think, they DO want to poison us. there is a depopulation agenda going on, its called New World Order. also, its very good for the pharma industry, to make people sick via poisons in cosmetics and food and medicine too.
