It's not perfect, but that's maybe what this song is about.
I thought it's a lovely poet (for a non English man) with a lovely guitar loop in it. I Felt a bit like Bob Ross while recording it: "It's your world, no mistakes here, little bravery test, etc. etc.".

I, at least, was not working on a #1 hit record, lol...

Please enjoy. Thanks!

Need to be

Crispy freshness in the air I breath
The ground beneath my feet is solid and green
I couldnt dare to take a next step ahead
Hidden fear, all I seem to do instead

All I need to be

The words inside my head are out of control
Most are not even mine and never been told
I couldnt dare spread some of them around no
The thing I need is a silence, no sound

All I need to be is someone I used to be
All I seem to be is someone Im used to

Here I sing about it no one else to hear me
I cannot trust in what I have to say
Here I sing about it no one else to hear me
I cannot trust in what I have to feel

  • this has a james taylor-esque feeling to it, yet its still extrememly original... great job, your stuff is awesome.. i actually learned how to play "You Never Know" from your video... hope to see you in a big venue some day

  • thanks!!

James Taylor indeed is one of those artist I'd like to listen to

    cheers!

  • surely you must have a Dylan or Lennon song you can play? the whole list is DMB ?? just curious to see you play something diff. .. people think Daves style is diff. but really its quite rudimentary..

  • Thanks for your honesty. Indeed, maybe it's primitive, or maybe even rudimentary as you called it. For me 'being alternative' or 'thinking of another way to...' comes in maybe third or fourth place. Yes, Dave is a big inspiration, I cannot deny that one. But giving thoughts a place through music for me comes at first place, no matter how. And yes, that makes it a bit primitive and that's why I'm proud of it. Thanks for taking the time, cheers!

  • Ive learned about 30 songs of Dave Matthews ,(DMBtabs helping out on more than one occasion) until I would play other songs ,and find myself playing a Dave chord by mistake, most times its sounds fine ,lol

  • lol, yes, that's what I'm talking about. The less you think about how to play stuff the more it becomes you.

'Need to be' isn't a dave song though, but I think you noticed. The first 'loop-thingy' is something I play for years now. The lyrics is a small poem I once wrote. Eventually it evaluated into this song. I hope you at least liked it a bit. Cheers!

  • So why are you not famous?

  • I apologize for sounding blunt in defending Dave Matthews, Pau. But his style is definitely different on the surface of listening to his music. I don't play much guitar (but I write songs), and know for a fact that many people have said how hard it is to play the guitar like Dave does. Most admire his guitar skills as I'm sure people do yours. I believe it's the combination of his lyrics, vocals, and guitar that makes him original.

  • ,I have about nine DMB albums and I can ,and have played about 30-35 of his songs at various clubs, there are NO riffs that are untouchable ,Dave`s stuff is completely rudimentary as most pop-folk-rock is, you obviously dont play guitar or you`d know how simple Dave`s diminished chord style is ...he is a great artist though and very creative but his guitar work is very easy even for beginners so get a grip and check your facts b4 you start blurting out more nonsense

  • Rudimentary? You must not have more than one DMB album. If you did then you'd know that not anybody has ever captured fully Dave Matthews' brilliant mush mouthed jangle of charm, his beautifully created lyrics, and his completely untouchable guitar riffs. Do you know any other artist that can combine blues, jazz, country, rock, folk, African soul, hip hop, and dance vibes and make it popular? I didn't think so! Reiner is the closet you'll come to ever talking to a musical genius.

  • chords progression and melody remind me of "sister"

  • Great song from all aspects in my opinion!!! I think you are one of the better musicians on youtube right up there with Mr. Ronald Jenkees. Who if you havent seen is worth checking out.

  • Wunderbar!

  • yea of course, good song ,I gave you five stars, no Dave chords in this tune ,(your arrangement reminded me of "your time is gonna come" LedZeppelin song)
