I'm a big fan of Cryptic, but ouch, those character animations look stiff and awkward. Not what I'd expect from a modern game, even an MMO.

So "Exploration" in Star Trek Online is the one minute of running across ugly graphics until you get to the BOOM-EXPLOSION-KILL part.

Yeah that's really "exploring" Star Trek space

An MMO that doesn't put names above peoples heads at all.

You have to interact to find out who a person is?

Well, that was EQ.. SOE did a similar thing with star wars galaxies but eventually stopped enforcing it as much. Regardless, Cryptic has never been known to do that and I doubt they will care in this game seeing as they barely cared enough about combat/graphics/story and everything else thats special to the star trek universe.

Everquest 2 changed names that didn't fit into the world. If your name wasn't a name that fit (say, "BucksRule13" or "xxxKillEmxxx"for example) then they would force you to change it to something that didn't disrupt the immersion. An MMO that doesn't do this takes a lot away from the experience.

Smoke isnt LIKELY in the vacuum of space. Thats like saying there isnt dust in space. Well ever seen a comet tail? Same principle just not common. Smoke is possible with the event of burning of materials that would produce smoke. And dude is right there is no sound in space so that is going to be super boring. The maneuverability of the ships is also unrealistic.

its not about what belongs in the universe. no body would ever say I'll have some mountain dew with my cheetos mom, in the Star Trek universe so should they allow people to NOT say that? And besides everyone is going to play Old Republic, Star trek is boring. Alien races are all humans with different color skin or nut sacks for foreheads. Old Republic will be much better thanks to BIOWARE!
