Why do some Christians think they are better than everyone else?

Almost everyone has had a conversation with a really annoying Christian who is convinced that they are perfect and that the rest of the world should bow at their feet.

Where does this idea come from? Is this something Jesus told his followers to do, or does this sense of 'self-righteousness' come from somewhere else? Can anyone really be 'self-righteous'?

One of my issues about the free gift is that if you don't accept it you will spend eternity in hell. Christians don't judge but stand by their God and impose his rules on you. It's very slippery indeed.

yeah thers lots of self righteous behavior, contempt, arrogance, hyprocrites. christians are NOT the only ones. these unhealthy behaviors are individual personality traits. TonicBlu, good words to LET GO of the arrogance and self-righteousness.
