Rockestra is a supergroup of famos musicians like an orchestra only for rock including Eric Clapton,Ringo Starr,Billy Joel, : Denny Laine, Laurence Juber, David Gilmour, Hank Marvin, Pete Townshend (guitars), Steve Holly, John Bonham, Kenney Jones (drums), Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones (pianos), Ronnie Lane, Bruce Thomas (bass), Gary Brooker, Linda McCartney, Tony Ashton (keyboards), Speedy Acquaye, Tony Carr, Ray Cooper, Morris Pert (percussion), Howie Casey, Tony Dorsey, Steve Howard, &Thaddeus Richard (horns).

Most of the Rockestra wore silver suits for this performance. On the Concerts for Kampuchea home video before the song "Rockestra Theme' is played, Paul can be heard making a comment about Pete Townshend before playing the song, making reference to Pete being a "poof" (gay in British slang). "Thank you, Peter. Only lousy sod who wouldn't wear the silver suit. Cuz he's a poof." Pete obviously refused to wear a silver suit, and made comment about it in several interviews following the performance.

Lawrence Juber can be seen walking up behind Pete after Paul's comment, and placing a silver top hat on his head. Pete quickly grabs the hat and flings it into the audience.

  • Nice to see this again, but cannot find Clapton in here to save my soul......or yours. Help!!!

  • @estyle40 my mistake- Clapton wasn't part of rockestra- e was part of something else- its Gilmour who was there

  • wowwwwwwwwwww !excelent !

  • @cogermax91 thanks! I actually got to meet and get a autograph from one of the guitarists here, who was Paul McCartney's guitarist and part of this "Rockestra" and played lead on the song "Rockestra Theme" that was performed later in this concert by the all Starr Rockestra'. he won a Grammy Award for it, and rightly so. He said it was amazing to have played with all those legends

  • Oh man so many legends! Paul, Pete Townshend, Dave Gilmour, John Bonham, the list goes on! I wish Keith Moon had lived to drum in it too...

  • @dockaiser Oh yeah! Damn now THAT-completely- IS a rockestra!! Thanks for that.

  • @Thejbirdy ..and the curly haired guy in the background is Robert Plant ..

  • @dockaiser Way cool!

  • @Thejbirdy yup - on the balcony

  • Was that BONZO on the drums there (when the song ends.)???

  • @4FabBEATLES David Gilmour wasn't at Rockestra for this performance for tax reasons. He was in Los Angeles with Pink Floyd rehearsing for the upcoming Wall shows that took place the following February (The Wall was finished in L.A.). Hank Marvin was also absent for some reason or another. Dave Edmunds of Rockpile and James Honeyman-Scott of The Pretenders filled in for Gilmour and Marvin respectively.

  • @4FabBEATLES OK, thats better, thanx; thought I was losin it. While you`re at it, whats with the crazed look Pete gave McCartney??? lol
