Influenced by a couple of comments I got regarding the BSS I showed in my video (one vid back) about the racial dynamic there, I decided to partake in a discussion regarding your experiences with BSS owned by other nationalities.

  • @lakeis3 You sound very angry.....why? Is expressing ones opinion or experience a crime? The title was posed as a question for discussion, and judging by almost everyone of the comments below they have experienced this 'disparity' while shopping in some of these stores. So need for your adversarial commentary no one is arguing here.

  • I think we should just stop buying from asian beauty supply stores. EVERY one that I have been to (in my area and away) have been the same in terms of treatment smh.... I mostly buy my hair products from drug stores, walmart/target, or Sallys. And I noticed that the quality and prices are sometimes better, esp. at the drug stores.

  • I have been boycotting Asian owned beauty supply stores for years! That take money from our community and live a lavish lifestyle with our money without investing into our community. To add insult to injury, they are often nasty!

  • A majority of Asian bss are in black populated areas....therefore the thefts are being done by black people. lol I shop at a bss and they dont pay me any attention.. I think after a few visits and they remember your face they let their guard down. I'm black and I'd watch everyone in general, but its sad to say that there are black people out there that are firm believers in the 5 finger discount. I've been in a black bss and the owner there told me that he has to keep an eye on black people too.

  • bss prices are higher because they can't get the items for the same price. a bss owner may have one store where the asian owner may own 10 or more, and can competitively negotiate better prices for the same products. although this economy is still quite difficult, i try to buy what i can from the bss rather than the others, even if it means paying a little more. we have to learn to support black owned business. and maybe one day, they will be able to compete with the asian businesses.

  • I agree with Apriluv7779. If I go in those stores its only to buy earrings. I find the prices for hair supplies I use better at Drugstores and discount stores. The BSS carry a larger variety of products generally but I just can't go in those stores. Most of them have so much fake hair either wigs and weaving hair all over the place it looks like a sea of self hate to me. Not saying wearing fake hair equals self hate its just seeing so much of it in one place and their attitudes are the worse

  • Love ya hair and SHIRT!;-) I looked at MrsZeaky's video and I totally experienced disparity of such. I dont like to be looked at as a thief and just dished out about$50 at your store. Its ashame! Thanx for sharing this beautiful!

  • Seems like you had a bad day. Next time go in the shops with a smile on your face. Do not let a few beauty shop bring you down. Online shop shopping is great way to get your hair supplies. Be positive and have a great weekend.

  • Asian beauty supply stores are usually located in really low income areas theft can be pretty frequent. These thieves have ruined it for the rest & you just have to accept that. Until such thievery stops, it will always be a problem for them. I go in, get what I need and get out. They are not stopping me from buying what I need to buy. You may not be the one whose stealing, but other people are. How are they suppose to know who is stealing and who is not? I wouldn't take it so personally.

  • i support black own beauty supply stores only dont mind spending the extra money to get respect. plus most of tge products in asian bss are not authentic, just becareful about that.(im a former beautican)

  • I totally agree..........with everything. I had found a bss that I really liked, where I was not treated that way, but then there was this guy i had never seen before literally following me so closely he was in my PANTS.......i went and told the owner i would not be back................they may have good deals, but i'm boycotting. anything i want i will gladly spend a lil more elsewhere. got more to say, but it makes me angry.,.................
