Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid today responded to Sen. Jim Bunning's repeat objections to extending unemployment and COBRA benefits. More than one million Americans will lose their unemployment insurance and health benefits by the end of this weekend if Bunning does not withdraw his objection. "We have the ability right now to extend [these benefits] for just a short time until we work out a longer-term solution. It is irresponsible not to. It is immoral," said Reid.
@BenJr01 I guess you haven't ever heard of unions and the price disparity of wages that have driven our jobs overseas, huh?

deny a child food. But come on ,what does a UI check pay for.Not enough for rent and utilities plus food, gas and car insurance along with personal things including meds. With that check they have to choose between the elecrtic, rent or gasoilne for their cars and soon will be pulled over for no insurance and fined. So people will be so brokehearted they complian about helping a person and paying a few dollars in taxes to do so.Shame on any American that refuses to help their family Americans

Immorality... that word isn't in the GOP vocabulary. This just goes to show you again what the real Republican values are towards the American worker who have lost their jobs due to the unregulated use of best shore/off shore.

I normally lean to the right, but Bunning needs to go. I've written to him and my own (Democratic!) Senator, letting him know that he has my full support should he ever choose to vote to expel Bunning from the Senate.
If Bunning is smart, he won't be going out in public for awhile. Not with the sheer number of people he has pissed off.

Millions and millions of Americans are suffering horrible financial problems and Senator Jim Bunning (who voted against an extension for unemployment benefits) was mostly concerned was that he missed a University of Kentucky basketball game. I hope that team loses all its remaining games. Mr. Bunning is acting like a petulant child because his fellow Republicans have forced him from campaigning for re-election. That part is funny.
