Rare Walt Disney Space series from 1957, speculating about Mars. Remember, almost 50 years ago, only Sputnik had gone up 2 months earlier!

@Threetails: But the Discovery channel tries not to violate physical laws, but this Disney clip breaks thermodynamic laws all over the place. Example: an animal would need more than strong acids to feed on soil, it would need something to synthesize organic molecules from minerals and an energy source, such as photosynthesis and sunlight. There would be insufficient energy left for movement. In short, such an organism would be a plant.
Interesting clip though, but don't bust on Discovery.

Disney was so much more adventurous than these Discovery Channel shows. Discovery channel grafts some extra legs on a salamander and says "hurr hurr, I maked a alien!" Disney actually got away from the patterns of terrestrial life as we know it.
