Sean Costin races his NoCom on the 333.3 meter Kenosha Velodrome to a time of 1:08.78, just slower than his recumbent world record of 1:08.22 in this event. This is average speed of 32.523 mph from a standing start. He did have a pretty spectacular crash the day before in winning a race.
Video Recorded: July 8, 2007.
The timing system could only record one stop & start, so riders had to bypass it and ride around it at the end of the 1st and 2nd lap - which added to their distance and time, also making an effort to break the record harder.
Approximate Lap by Lap Results from video analysis:
Start Race @ 6.5 secs
End Lap 1 @ 33.5 secs, lap 1 = 27 sec = 27.6 mph
End Lap 2 @ 54.5 secs, lap 2 = 21 sec = 35.5 mph
End Lap 3 @ 75.3 secs, lap 3 = 20.8 sec = 35.8 mph
Sean is the world record holder in the One Hour unfaired recumbent category with this same bike at 28.459 miles ridden in one hour. Amendment: Sean went 29.76 miles in one hour on a fixed gear NoCom Sept 1, 2007 for a new World Record!
