Katzcradul demonstrates how to preserve lemons using salt. Lemons preserved this way should be stored in the refrigerator, and will keep for months. Place the lemons on chicken before oven roasting. Excellent on fish. Can be used in tartar sauce, but rinse first to remove some of the salt.

  • Hi, i'm glad I found your video as I just received 30lbs of lemons. I just finished stuffing a 1 quart jar according to your recipe. Looks very pretty. At this moment I am making a lemon marmalade as well. I truly believe in waste not want not. However I've always shared my excess. Now I can store and share when I entertain, or as a gift. Thanks for your video. I agree with the other posts. It would be nice to see a recipe using these salted lemons. Sounds so good.

  • @Mariavasquez48 Next time I roast a chicken using them, I'll video it. Thanks for watching and for leaving such a good comment. Glad you tried preserving lemons.

  • Question--do the lemons require refrigeration after theyve been salted? Or once salted, are they shelf stable?

  • @AnnBearForFreedom Yes, in the description box, I noted that they have to be refrigerated. Give them a try. They're really good.

  • Thanks for sharing this info. I was wondering if it would be okay to substitute the salt using sugar?

  • @vonda811 Sure, but not quite the same method. You'd need to can them. Slice lemon into sterilized jars. Cover with a boiling sugar syrup. Put on lids and rings. Process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes. Remove and let cool, making sure each lid sealed before storing. Thanks for watching and commenting.
