  • i live in singapore so the chinese is the simplified ver. we were learning bout the word gwing but it was in the simplified version so my chi teacher showed us the traditional version (which is this) then i screams and shouted in chinese "OMG! THATS MYOLIE WU'S FAMOUS GWING FACE!" lolol

  • At least in Mandarin 囧 is not a formal writen or speaking langeage. It is an internet slang, and it is also a misused term. Whatever the original meaning is, now we only use it as that character looks like a guy is make a face.

Example: Lets say you friend ask you out to watch a opera(or whatever) together, but on that day when he shows up, he shows up with only 1 ticket, right there you should feel 囧.

  • 好冏阿。。。

  • 囧(gwing)= dumbfounded

  • omg. i like that drama... 0:31 lol myolie's face damn 囧.

  • i watch it

  • i watched that drama just today on tv :O

  • super funny! mannnnnnnnnnn!

  • 8 dude can't gwing

  • ...It's pronounced as "Jiong" in Chinese, it's the older form of "炯", another way to write it is "冏", that word means "Bright" or "Brilliant", "炯炯有神" means someone's eyes are lively and sharp. the faceplam meaning of it come after someone notice the word resembles some one with shit face, and it's only used amount young peoples, if you go check dictionary, it will still address it as bright or brilliant.
