I didn't know the date until I looked at a calendar. Either way, my worms and garden are doing great. Me too, and retirement made all the difference. I always wanted to be a wormfarmer because it sounded cool. I never want to make money from my worms, I just want to feed my garden so it can feed my wife, myself and the worms. It's working pretty good, I admit it's getting better all the time. Life can be pretty good, if you are ever able to slow down enough to really give it a try. It's not easy to do, I'll admit, but sometimes you have no choice. I'm thankful for that now, but I sure wasn't at the time my time was up.

  • We just started our first worm bin and are excited to do this with our children to get them more involved in the garden, its up keep, etc....

    Thanks!

  • George, thanks for posting your progress

  • Worms are sometimes like children, you have to help them make the right decision. Step out of the box and do things a little unconventionally. Dump all your trays together in one tray (I noticed the material was a pretty thin layer), load your empty trays up with fresh bedding and leave the finished tray on the top with the lid off. Then start turning the material a few times a day. The turning, light, and the natural drying of the material will drive the worms down into the fresh trays.

  • Yeah a George update Yippie Dippy Doo, I am so glad you had a moment of inspiration :-) Love your updates I learn so much. I want to see where your water fountain is that you can hear in the background of your video:-) Everything looks great!

I am doing my first harvest as I write, I'm taking a break, tons of cocoons but it looks and smells sweet!!

Hey George we live in the same hood..South Austin

  • things look nice. keep up the good work. i always look forward to your up dates.

i am finishing up my two stackable systems first load of castings. i have filled up both 5 tray systems and i think its really just about processing now. i am just letting things coast through the summer.

we had 110f here in vegas last weekend and they started to leave the bin.

i am using your frozen water bottle technique for keeping the worms cool now. i think its helping.

  • Good seeing you again George! I have the solution to your tomato problem. Buy a roll of concrete mesh. It has 4" square openings. Get a small bolt cutter and cut off enough to make a roll big enough in diameter for your tomato plantt to grow inside it. Hell, it's much easier for me to show you than tell you. I'll try to get a video up in a few days showing my garden and the tomato cages I made. They have lasted several years and will for many more.

  • Greetings George! Would you make a longer video, showing the whole garden again? I need something to get me motivated to make more raised beds. I love how many you have. Keep us updated and watch the heat. I know you will.

  • Been waiting awhile to see you again George thanks for the update

  • thanks for sharing your videos :)

  • Great video, sir. Congratulations, patience is worth it!!!
