@faska82 All those are pioneers, no doubt. But, I think you can go a bit further back: Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, then Benny Goodman and Louie Armstrong. You didn't mention at least those last two. But, worse yet, where's Count Basie and Duke Ellington? Also, the great Charles Mingus deserves a mention, along with Bud Powell. There's so many, right? Phew. Anyway, not trying to bug you. Just thought I'd mention a few others.

Cd: A mixed bag. On some cuts Chet sounds great, on others he struggles. Recording quality is poor on a few pieces. Ruth Young joins Chet on two pretty duets (#1 & #6), and he plays muted trumpet on a couple of tunes.
